Farum Crowned Champions of Denmark
|
Sep 18 2005
The Farum Cats are the Champions of Denmark after defeating South Sweden in the Grand Final of the DAFL Premier League. In the end Farum ran out easy winners but it could have been a much different story had South Sweden kicked straight. In the first quarter Farum kicked 3.2.(20) to South Sweden's 8 behinds, and although South Sweden remained competitive through out the match they could never catch up to Farum and ended up losing the game by 44 points 15.16.(106) to 7.20.(62).

Denmark Pulls Out of International Cup
|
July 1 2005
From the DAFL Website
The time has come to put an end to all the rumour and speculation and announce that, yes, it's true, Denmark has pulled out of the 2005 International Cup in Melbourne. The DAFL Executive has officially and regretfully informed the AFL that there will be no Danish team at this year's IC.
The reasons are many. In the end it was a lack of finance which led to the difficult decision. But even had the money been there, it is doubtful that a team worthy of the name would have been going, such was the rate of withdrawal of individual players for injury-related and other reasons.
For those that are wondering, the decision is irreversible, as flight and accommodation bookings that had been made have already been cancelled, and at considerable cost in terms of lost deposits.
Thie is trully devasting news not just for Denmark but for the International Cup, there is also fears that a few other teams may also pull out due to financial reasons with big concerns over the small nation of Nauru.

Sweden almost pull off massive upset
|
June 12 2005
Sweden travelled to Denmark for what should have been an easy victory for Denmark in the lead up to this years International Cup. This game has been played in Denmark for a number of years now but is relatively new in Sweden. However from the first bounce it looked as if the Swedes had been playing the game all their life (half the team was Aussies) as they jumped out to a massive 45 point lead at quarter time. Denmark then fought back hard in the second quarter outscoring the Swedes by 4 goals to go in at half time trailing by 21 points. Denmark then cut the margin down to 11 points at 3 quarter time and looked as if they may ran away with it, but for the first time in the history of International football the match ended in a draw Denmark 15.8.(98) to Sweden 14.14.(98). Although the Swedes did let a massive lead slip they should be proud of their effort against an established nation. As for Denmark they have a few questions that need to be answered before August if they are going to be competitive at the International Cup. Denmark is in the same group as Ireland, USA, Nauru, Japan and South Africa.

Cudas Clinch Classic Contest
|
Sep 19 2004
In an astonishing completion to the season, it was the expansionist Cudas who overcame first their clubmates, the Barras, and then the Farum Cats in a sensational Grand Final at Farum yesterday. The Cudas were on top for most of the day, and even looked home and hosed at three-quarter time with a 32 point lead. But the Cats made a tremendous surge in the last quarter to get to within five points at the 11-minute mark. At that point the game slowed as players from both sides began to tire. Nevertheless, the Cats again got to within three points at the 22 minute mark (quarters are 20 minutes plus time on), but they never hit the front and the Cudas outlasted them to win by four points, despite kicking fewer goals.
Jesper Gjorup was awarded best-on-ground, while Mikkel Norlander equalled the record for the most goals in a DAFL Grand Final with eight - an extraordinary five in the last quarter alone (has anyone ever kicked five goals in the last quarter of a losing Grand Final side anywhere?).
Congrats to the Cudas, and it's surely a credit to the expansion plans that such a team could win the flag.
The Final Score saw North Copenhagen Cudas defeat the Farum Cats 14.15.(99) to 15.15.(95).

Erik Krolmark - DAFL to make more changes for 2004
|
Feb 24 2004
The DAFL will keep the same format as last year with 3 divisions and 12 a side. Only this year 3 clubs will split into 6 even teams. The teams are Amager Tigers (now A. tigers and A. Hawks (yes, Holte Hawks will come under Amager)), North Copenhagen Barracudas (like last year the Barras and the Cudas but this year as 2 even teams) and finally Farum Cats (now Farum Cats and Farum Lions). This has been made to even the finals out. Have a look on last years Quarter and semi finals. That was a big joke. The teams from the other 2 divisions didn't have a chance. With this we're levelling out the league. I don't think this is a positive thing just now (the level will go down for a while which will hurt the National Team. But looking ahead it will help the league.
